The photo collage that I’ve created consists of myself, a pair of YSL heels, a dress designed by a student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (background), Versace and forever 21 sunglasses and a quote that states, “ Fashion is an attitude” by Rudi Gernreich. While on the Study Away Los Angeles, California Tour that Kent State University’s fashion school provides, we had the opportunity to visit many high fashion stores and connect with the brand ambassadors. This is where most of my pictures and inspiration came from.
I went through my phone to find the selected pictures and went to google slides to make the background collage with the dress. I then went to photoshop and put the dress background in the document. I added a new document with the picture of myself and used the select tool to crop myself out of the original background.
To add both pictures to the background, I simply dragged the layers to the background document and did the same with the other three pictures. In order to flip the picture of myself, I decided to press on that specific layer, clicked ctrl t (Hp), selected image and then flip horizontal. Finally, I clicked on the background layer and used a filter called rough pastels.
The story being told is that nothing has to match when it comes to your outfit! You can add different prints, textures, and colors to whatever you decide to wear. I presented this by showing myself and a floral jacket with black biker shorts and heels. I decided to put more heels and different types to sunglasses to show you the many ways of how to go about this outfit.
The quotes spoken by Rudi Gernreich speaks volumes to some but I feel as though “Style is an attitude.” Style is who YOU are! Style is showing others what makes you you and what makes you feel comfortable! Style is your attitude, so own it!
The quote was stated in 1966 so maybe fashion back then was an attitude. According to google, fashion is a popular trend and I believe that to be true. Fashion=Trend and Style=personality. Each element in my collage contributes to the overall narrative regarding my topic because it’s all about FASHION.
